Interviewing a Deck

It’s very important to interview your deck. Some will also tell you to cleanse it and sleep with it under your pillow for some length of time before you even pull cards. That’s a bit much in my opinion! But a good shuffle and an interview go a long way.

Start by shuffling, and I don’t mean just randomly move cards around. Lay the cards out one by one in 4 or 5 piles. Put down a card from the front of the deck, the next card should come from the back. Then combine these piles. This will ensure that your deck is thoroughly random. Then feel free to shuffle it however you like for as long as you like.

Once that’s done, it’s time for the interview! There are tons of Interview spreads online. Feel free to use one of those or make up your own. This is the one I use. How will we get along? What can you teach me? What do you want me to know?

Hush Tarot Interview, L to R: Get along, Teach me, What to know

How will we get along? Two of Swords. I get a feeling that this deck will open my eyes and be a comfort to me. Sort of a nurturing awakening.

What can you teach me? Queen of Swords. A lot! This deck can teach me to unmask truths. As well as how to be one with Nature.

What do you want me to know? Ten of Cups. Guard my emotions. Keep my cup well protected. I take this as a warning to be careful not to over invest in clients.

Overall, I feel really good about this interview and that the deck will go into my regular rotation and work well with me. Did you see anything I missed? Leave a comment below!

I hope all of your Deck Interviews go well and that deep revelations are shared with you.
